LIBRARY SENDS POLICE TO COLLECT OVERDUE BOOKS FROM 5-YEAR-OLD: A Charlton, MA library (outside of Boston) went above and beyond to collect overdue library books from a 5 year-old: they sent a police officer to get them back!
The mother of the five-year old said her daughter burst into tears when police arrived and demanded the two overdue books, and argues that sending a cop to their house was a bit too much. Some town officials — including the police officer — admitted the move might have been a little over the top.
Agreed! What were they going to charge the kid with, possession of an illegal “Curious George” with the intent to read?
JUST ASKING: Did the library go too far or did the mom and daughter act irresponsibly by not returning the books in a timely fashion?
